More Highlights & Neighborhoods
Vancouver has much more to offer than Stanley Park and Granville Island. These neighborhoods and highlights deserve your attention:
Kitsilano & Beaches
Kitsilano (short: Kits) is Vancouver's most laid-back neighborhood — yoga studios, organic cafes, vintage shops, and Kitsilano Beach with Canada's largest outdoor pool (137 meters long, saltwater, only in summer). From here, you have the iconic view of the downtown skyline with the mountains behind. Jericho Beach and Spanish Banks further west are quieter and magical at sunset.
Chinatown & Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden
Vancouver's Chinatown is the third largest in North America (after San Francisco and New York). The Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden (16 CAD) is the first authentic Chinese garden outside China — every stone was imported from Suzhou. The Millennium Gate marks the entrance, and Pender Street is the culinary center.
Robson Street & West End
The Robson Street is Vancouver's main shopping street — international chains, Canadian labels, and street cafes over 2 kilometers. The adjacent West End is one of Canada's most densely populated and livable residential areas: tree-lined streets, the English Bay Beach (best sunset spot in the city!), and a vibrant LGBTQ+ scene around Davie Street.
FlyOver Canada
A 4D flight simulator at Canada Place that lets you "fly" over all of Canada in 10 minutes — from Niagara Falls over the Rockies to the Arctic. Kitschy? Maybe. But still one of the most impressive simulation experiences worldwide. 35 CAD, worth it!
💡 Tipp
Vancouver's best view is free: the Vancouver Lookout at Harbour Centre costs 18.50 CAD, but the rooftop terrace of the Grouse Mountain Restaurant (if you dine) and the viewpoint at Cypress Provincial Park (30 min drive) are free and more spectacular.
