Cape Peninsula & Chapman's Peak

The entire Cape Peninsula south of Cape Town is a natural spectacle — wild romantic coasts, dramatic mountain passes, picturesque fishing villages, and wildlife living right on the doorstep of the metropolis. A day trip along the peninsula is a must.

Chapman's Peak Drive

The most spectacular coastal road in South Africa — and one of the most beautiful in the world. The 9-kilometer-long Chapman's Peak Drive winds through 114 curves along steep cliffs, 600 meters above the Atlantic, between Hout Bay and Noordhoek. Each curve offers a new panorama, and numerous pull-offs invite you to marvel and take photos. Toll road: 52 ZAR (2.60€).

Hout Bay

The picturesque fishing village of Hout Bay lies in a sheltered bay, surrounded by mountains. From here, boat tours depart to Seal Island (Duiker Island) — a rocky island home to thousands of Cape fur seals. The 40-minute boat tour (from 100 ZAR / 5€) takes you close to the colony. The Bay Harbour Market (Friday to Sunday) is a highlight for foodies.

Noordhoek Beach

An 8-kilometer-long, wild sandy beach at the foot of Chapman's Peak — expansive, windswept, and dramatically beautiful. Not a swimming beach (strong currents!), but perfect for long beach walks and horseback riding on the beach. The wreckage of the Kakapo (stranded in 1900) protrudes from the sand at low tide.

Simon's Town

The historic naval base Simon's Town on False Bay is a charming coastal town with Victorian buildings, a main street full of antique shops and cafés, and a small naval museum. From here, it's just a short walk to the penguins at Boulders Beach.
