Petronas Twin Towers & KLCC★★★
The Petronas Twin Towers are not only the landmark of Malaysia — they are an architectural masterpiece and a symbol of the country's rise from a British colony to a modern economic power. At 452 meters and 88 floors, they were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004. Designed by Argentine-American architect César Pelli, they combine Islamic geometry with postmodern aesthetics — the floor plan of each tower is based on an octagonal star, a symbol of Islamic art.
The Skybridge on the 41st floor (170 meters) connects the two towers and offers a breathtaking view of the city. From the Observation Deck on the 86th floor (370 meters), you can see as far as the sea on a clear day. Tickets are strictly limited — book online weeks in advance! In the evening, the Towers are spectacularly illuminated and a must-see for any KL trip.
At the base of the towers lies the KLCC Park — a 20-hectare green oasis amidst the skyscrapers, designed by Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx. The lake with the water fountain (evening Light & Sound Show at 20:00, 21:00, and 22:00) is the most romantic spot in KL. Joggers, families, and couples enjoy the tranquility here — while the towers loom above. The Suria KLCC Mall at the base of the towers houses luxury brands, an excellent food court, and the interactive science museum Petrosains.
💡 Tipp
Book tickets for the Petronas Towers online — they are often sold out at the counter. Best time to visit: morning (clear view) or evening (light show). The KLCC Park is most beautiful in the evening when the fountain dances to the music and the Towers are illuminated.
