For Every Type of Traveler
Morocco is one of the most versatile travel countries in the world — here everyone literally finds their adventure:
🎒 Backpackers & Budget Travelers
Morocco is a backpacker's paradise with excellent value for money. Hostels from 80 MAD (8€), Tajine from 30 MAD (3€), Grands Taxis for cents. The medinas are the best "experiences" that cost nothing. Bargaining is part of the game — start at 30% of the quoted price. The most popular backpacker route: Marrakech → Sahara → Fes → Chefchaouen.
👨👩👧👦 Families
Marrakech and the coast are family-friendly — children are adored in Morocco ("Children are the jewels of life"). Riads with pools are ideal, the wide sandy beach of Essaouira perfect for sandcastles, and the camel ride in the desert fascinates every child. Tips: Book Riads with family rooms, take stomach and intestinal prophylaxis seriously (only bottled water, no street salad), and avoid the midday heat in the medina.
💑 Couples & Honeymooners
Morocco is incredibly romantic: Riads with rose petals on the bed, rooftop dinners by candlelight, desert nights under the starry sky, Hammam rituals for two. The best Riad experiences are available in Fes and Marrakech from 80€/night (with breakfast!). Essaouira is the more relaxed, romantic alternative to Marrakech.
🏔️ Adventurers & Outdoor Fans
Toubkal ascent (2 days, North Africa's highest peak), multi-day treks in the Atlas (Mgoun crossing, 5–7 days), mountain biking in the Dadès Valley, canyoning in the Todra Gorge, sandboarding in the Sahara, climbing on the Todra walls (Europe's climbing community knows the spot), surfing on the Atlantic coast. The possibilities are endless and surprisingly affordable.
🍽️ Foodies
Moroccan cuisine is one of the five great cuisines of the world. Cooking classes in Marrakech and Fes (from 300 MAD), street food tours through the medina, spice markets, traditional bakeries (Forno), olive oil tastings, and argan oil cooperatives. The Jemaa el-Fna is the largest open-air restaurant in the world. Fes is considered the culinary capital — this is where Pastilla comes from.
📸 Photographers
Morocco is a photographic dream: the blue alleys of Chefchaouen, the tanneries of Fes, the dunes of the Sahara in the morning light, the Kasbahs of the south at sunset, the colorful souks, the Berber villages in the Atlas. Respect privacy — ask for permission before portraits and expect that a small tip (10–20 MAD) is expected.
