Staying in Stockholm
Stockholm offers accommodations for every budget — from design hostels to floating hotels to luxury grand hotels. Prices are in the Scandinavian mid-range: cheaper than Oslo and Copenhagen, but significantly above the European average.
€ Budget (under 800 SEK / 70 €)
STF af Chapman · Skeppsholmen — The most famous hostel in Scandinavia: Sleep on a historic three-masted ship from 1888, moored on the island of Skeppsholmen with views of Gamla Stan and Djurgården. The dorms are cramped (it's a ship!), but the experience is unique. Breakfast included, in a building on land. From 450 SEK per bed in the dormitory.
Generator Stockholm · Torsgatan 10, Norrmalm — Modern design hostel with bar, restaurant, and a central location near the main train station. Dorm from 350 SEK, private rooms from 700 SEK.
€€ Mid-Range (800–2,000 SEK / 70–175 €)
Hotel Skeppsholmen · Grevgatan 6A, Skeppsholmen — Converted military barracks on the museum island, quiet and green, yet central. Design rooms from 1,200 SEK.
NOFO Hotel · Tjärhovsgatan 11, Södermalm — Boutique hotel in the heart of the SoFo district: individually decorated rooms, cozy lounge with bookshelves. From 1,000 SEK.
HTL Kungsgatan · Kungsgatan 53, Norrmalm — Smart hotel with minimalist but well-thought-out rooms. Central location on the shopping street. From 900 SEK.
€€€ High-End (from 2,000 SEK / 175 €)
Grand Hôtel Stockholm · Södra Blasieholmshamnen 8 — Stockholm's most iconic hotel since 1874: directly on the water with views of the Royal Palace. Nobel laureates stay here. Michelin-starred restaurant Mathias Dahlgren. From 3,500 SEK.
Ett Hem · Sköldungagatan 2, Östermalm — One of the best boutique hotels in Europe: a converted townhouse from 1910, furnished like an elegant Swedish home. Only 12 rooms, personal service, library, and garden. From 4,500 SEK.

💡 Tipp
Stockholm's hotels are often cheaper on weekends than during the week (the opposite of the rest of Europe!) — many business hotels drastically reduce prices on Saturdays and Sundays. In summer (mid-June to mid-August), prices are generally higher, but there are more hostel options (student dormitories open as summer hostels). Book at least 3–4 weeks in advance for the best prices.
