Rest Camps & Accommodations
Kruger has 12 Main Rest Camps, several Satellite Camps, and Bushveld Camps. All are operated by SANParks and are surprisingly well-equipped: restaurants, shops, gas stations, pools.

Booking
Book all SANParks accommodations via sanparks.org. In high season (June–October, December/January), popular camps are booked out months in advance. SANParks opens bookings 11 months ahead — strike on the opening day!
Accommodation Types
- Camping: From 350 ZAR/night. Own tent, shared sanitary facilities. Cheapest option.
- Safari Tent: From 800 ZAR. Fixed tent on a platform. Basic equipment.
- Bungalow: From 1,200 ZAR. Air-conditioned, private bathroom, kitchen. Standard choice.
- Cottage: From 2,000 ZAR. More spacious, for families.
- Guest House: From 3,500 ZAR. The best units in each camp, often with river view.
💡 Tipp
Lower Sabie is the best camp for first-time visitors: top animal density, hippos in the river right in front of the camp, good roads to the hotspots, and a relaxed atmosphere. Spend 2–3 nights here, then move on to Satara.
