Arrival & Boat Tips

Speedboats from Sanur: Most boats to the Nusa Islands depart from Sanur Beach (South Bali). The crossing to Nusa Lembongan takes 30-45 minutes, to Nusa Penida (port Toyapakeh or Banjar Nyuh) 45-60 minutes. Price: 150,000-350,000 IDR (8-20€) depending on provider, season, and booking time. Round trips can be booked separately.

Recommended providers: Rocky Fast Cruise, Maruti Express, Crown Fast Cruise, and D'Camel Fast Ferry have a good reputation for safety and punctuality. Book online or through your accommodation — spontaneous bookings at the beach are usually more expensive.

Departure times: Most boats leave Sanur between 7:30 and 10:30 am. Return trips from the islands are usually between 7:00 and 4:30 pm. In the high season (July-August, Christmas), book 1-2 days in advance!

Between the islands: Local boats run from Lembongan to Nusa Penida (public, 50,000-100,000 IDR, 15-20 min). From Lembongan to Ceningan, you can cross the Yellow Bridge (on foot or by scooter).

💡 Tipp

Sit at the back of the boat — the front is the most turbulent and you will get wet. Bring a plastic bag for valuables. In rough seas, crossings can be bumpy — travel sickness tablets help. The crossing at sunrise (earliest departure) is usually the calmest.

Achtung

There have been several accidents with speedboats on this route — some with injuries. Pay attention to the condition of the boat: life jackets must be available, the boat must not be overloaded, and the crew should appear professional. If in doubt, take another boat.
