Island Hopping Tour★★★
The Island Hopping Tour is Langkawi's most popular activity — a half-day boat trip to three of the archipelago's 99 islands, with swimming, snorkeling, and eagle feeding. The standard tour visits:
The Three Stops
- Pulau Dayang Bunting (Island of the Pregnant Maiden): The second-largest island of the archipelago with the Tasik Dayang Bunting — a freshwater lake surrounded by limestone cliffs, where you can swim. The lake is named after a Malay legend: A princess lost her child here and cursed the lake so that all women who bathe in it become pregnant. Scientific proof: pending.
- Pulau Singa Besar: The Eagle Island, where the captain throws chicken entrails into the water and dozens of sea eagles (Brahminy Kites) swoop down to grab the prey. An impressive spectacle — by the way, Langkawi means "reddish-brown eagle" in Malay.
- Pulau Beras Basah: A small island with a white sandy beach and crystal-clear water — perfect for snorkeling, swimming, and relaxing. The last hour of the tour is spent here.
Booking: At Kuah Jetty or through your hotel. Group tours from 35 MYR (~€7) per person. Private boats from 250 MYR (~€50) for up to 8 people. The tour lasts about 4 hours (morning or afternoon).
💡 Tipp
The afternoon tour (14:00–18:00) is less crowded and offers better light for photos. Bring swimwear, sunscreen, and water — there is nothing to buy on the islands. Snorkeling equipment can be rented on the boat.
