Pantai Cenang & Underwater World★★
Pantai Cenang is Langkawi's most popular beach and the island's main tourist strip — a 2 km long white sand beach with warm, shallow water, perfect for families. The road behind the beach is lined with hotels, restaurants, duty-free shops, and water sports providers.
During the day, the beach offers jet skiing, parasailing, banana boats, and kayak rentals. In the evening, the street transforms into a lively strip with restaurants, bars, and night markets. The sunsets over the Andaman Sea are spectacular — best enjoyed from one of the beach bar terraces.
Right on the beach is Underwater World Langkawi — Malaysia's largest aquarium with over 500 species of marine and freshwater animals. The highlight is the 15-meter-long underwater tunnel, where sharks, rays, and giant turtles swim above your head. A must-visit for families with children — for adults, it's rather average.
For quieter beaches, head to Pantai Tengah (south, more upscale), Tanjung Rhu (northeast, more secluded, luxurious), or Pantai Kok (west, near the Cable Car).
💡 Tipp
The most beautiful beach on Langkawi is not Pantai Cenang, but Tanjung Rhu in the northeast — white sand, turquoise water, hardly any people. Rent a scooter (30 MYR/day) and explore the island on your own — Langkawi is flat, the roads are good.
