Costs & Budget

Malaysia is one of the most affordable travel destinations in all of Asia. The Ringgit is extremely favorable for Europeans, and the quality — especially when it comes to food — is sensationally high. Even with a medium budget, you can eat and stay excellently here.

💡 Tipp

Alcohol is the only expensive expense in Malaysia — due to high taxes, a beer in a restaurant costs 15–20 MYR. On Langkawi (duty-free zone), however, alcohol is extremely cheap. When it comes to food: the more local, the cheaper and better. Hawker centers beat any restaurant.
