Mobile Internet

Montenegro is not included in EU roaming! Using your German mobile contract in Montenegro can incur high additional costs (€0.50–1/MB data, €1–2/min. calls). Check your provider's roaming conditions before the trip.

Best solution: Buy a local prepaid SIM card. The three Montenegrin providers (Crnogorski Telekom, One/Telenor, m:tel) offer tourist packages with sufficient data for €5–10 per week. SIM cards are available at kiosks, supermarkets, and provider shops. Bring your passport!

Wi-Fi

Free Wi-Fi is widely available in hotels, hostels, cafés, and restaurants along the coast and in cities. Quality varies — usually good in hotels, sometimes slow in cafés. In the mountains (Durmitor, Prokletije), Wi-Fi is only available in accommodations, mobile internet can be weak.

Electricity

Montenegro uses 230V, plug types C/F — identical to Germany. No adapter needed. Outlets work reliably, even in rural areas.

Post

The Montenegrin post (Pošta Crne Gore) functions but is slow: postcards to Germany take 1–3 weeks. Stamps: €0.80 for Europe. Post offices are available in all cities.

💡 Tipp

As an alternative to a local SIM card: Download an eSIM (e.g., Airalo, Holafly) to your smartphone before the trip. Montenegro data packages are available from €5 for 1 GB. Advantage: No physical SIM card needed and instantly activatable.
