Street Food Tour through Kathmandu
The best street food experiences are NOT in Thamel, but in the Old Town:
- Asan Tol: Momos, Chatpate (spicy snack mix of puffed rice, noodles, and sauce), Panipuri (fried balls with tamarind water)
- Indra Chowk: Lakhamari (sweet lard pastry), Sel Roti (fried rice flour bread in ring shape)
- New Road: The best samosas in Kathmandu at "Kantipur Sweet House"
- Bhaktapur: Juju Dhau (King of Yogurt, only here!), Bara, Wo, and freshly fried Yomari
💡 Tipp
For the most authentic culinary experience in Kathmandu, reserve a Newari Bhoye (feast) at Bhojan Griha or Newa Lahana. You sit on the floor, eat with your hands, and get up to 20 different dishes — a culinary journey through Nepal's most complex cuisine. Costs less than an average dinner in Germany, but remains unforgettable.
