★★★ Vassos Fish Restaurant (Ayia Napa Harbor)

Since 1962, the best fish restaurant in the region — right at the fishing harbor. The fish platter for two (grilled dorado, barbouni, calamari, shrimp) is legendary. It doesn't get any fresher.

★★ Sage Restaurant & Wine Bar

Modern Cypriot fine dining on the main street of Ayia Napa. Creatively interpreted classics: halloumi with fig chutney, lamb shank with Commandaria reduction. Excellent wine list.

Nissi Avenue 50. Main courses 16–28€.

★★ Paralimni Tavernas

The best (and cheapest) restaurants in the region are not on the beach, but 5 km north in Paralimni — the real town behind the resorts. This is where the locals eat: meze for 18€, souvlaki for 8€, moussaka for 10€. Recommendation: Potamos Fish Tavern and Kanalli.

Street Food

  • Souvlaki/Gyros Pita: The standard meal — meat in flatbread with salad, tzatziki, tomatoes. 4–6€, at every kiosk.
  • Halloumi Sandwich: Grilled halloumi with tomatoes and cucumber in bread. 5€.
  • Loukoumades: Fried honey balls — the perfect dessert. 4–6€ a portion.
