Dining on the Nusa Islands
The restaurant scene on the Nusa Islands is steadily growing but remains manageable. The best options:
Nusa Lembongan
The Deck Café & Bar — Australian-Indonesian fusion cuisine with the best breakfast on the islands (acai bowls, eggs benedict). Right over the water with sunset views. Main courses 60,000-120,000 IDR.
Hai Bar & Grill — Fresh grilled fish, BBQ ribs, and surprisingly good cocktails. Casual atmosphere right at Mushroom Bay.
Warung Putu — Authentic Balinese food at local prices. Nasi Campur from 25,000 IDR, Mie Goreng from 20,000 IDR. The owner Putu cooks like a Balinese grandmother — and that's the highest compliment.
Nusa Penida
Penida Espresso — The best coffee on the island, plus smoothie bowls and sandwiches. Perfect stop before touring the highlights.
Amok Sunset Bar near Crystal Bay — Pizza, pasta, and Indonesian dishes with sunset views. Tourist prices, but the location is unbeatable.
Nusa Ceningan
The Sea Breeze Warung — Simple Indonesian cuisine right by the Yellow Bridge. Cheap, fresh, friendly. Nasi Goreng 30,000 IDR.
💡 Tipp
Food is delivered by boat from the mainland — that's why prices on the islands are 20-50% higher than on Bali. The cheapest meals are found in local warungs (25,000-50,000 IDR). Tourist cafes charge mainland Bali prices.
