Seminyak: Jalan Kayu Aya, Jalan Petitenget, Jalan Oberoi | Canggu: Jalan Batu Bolong, Jalan Berawa
Warungs: 7:00–21:00 | Cafés: 7:00–17:00 | Restaurants: 11:00–23:00
Warung Nasi Goreng: 15.000–30.000 IDR (0,90–1,75€) | Smoothie Bowl: 65.000–95.000 IDR (3,80–5,60€) | Restaurant-Hauptgericht: 95.000–250.000 IDR (5,60–14,60€)

The southwest coast offers Bali's most diverse culinary scene — from the 15,000-IDR Nasi Goreng at a street Warung to the twelve-course menu at a designer restaurant. Nowhere else on the island do culinary worlds collide so uninhibitedly: Balinese grandmothers cook alongside Australian chefs, local Warung culture meets avocado toast aesthetics.

The Warungs are the culinary backbone: Simple family kitchens operating on street corners and side streets, serving Indonesian classics with consistent quality. In Canggu, Warung Dandelion (Jalan Pantai Berawa) is a favorite — Nasi Campur for 25,000 IDR (~1.50€), Mie Goreng for 20,000 IDR (~1.20€), served on banana leaves at simple wooden tables. In Seminyak, Warung Murah (Jalan Kunti) serves authentic Balinese cuisine at local prices in the most expensive district. The rule of thumb: The further from the main street, the more authentic and cheaper the Warung.

On the other side are the hip cafés and restaurants that have made Bali's southwest coast a culinary destination. In Seminyak, Mama San (Jalan Raya Kerobokan) is a highlight — Asian tapas in a two-story colonial-style warehouse, dishes from 95,000 IDR (~5.60€). Sarong (also Kerobokan) is considered one of Bali's best restaurants — modern Southeast Asian cuisine in an intimate garden setting, main courses from 180,000 IDR (~10.50€), reservation required.

In Canggu, a true brunch culture has developed: Milk & Madu (Batu Bolong) serves legendary ricotta pancakes (85,000 IDR/~5€), Crate Café is the breakfast institution of digital nomads, and Nude offers plant-based fine dining in a minimalist bamboo house. For burger fans: The Lawn (directly on Batu Bolong Beach, beach bar with upscale cuisine) serves probably the best burger in Bali (165,000 IDR/~9.70€) — juicy, thick, and with a view of the sea.

A budget comparison: A day of eating at a Warung costs 60,000–100,000 IDR (3.50–5.80€) for three meals. A day in café style: 250,000–400,000 IDR (14.60–23€). The truth lies for most somewhere in between — morning Warung coffee and Nasi Goreng, midday smoothie bowl, evening grilled fish on the beach.

💡 Tipp

For the best value for money: Eat lunch at a Warung (Nasi Campur with freshly prepared side dishes), dine in one of the upscale restaurants in the evening. Many restaurants in Seminyak offer early happy hours (5–7 PM) with discounted cocktails and appetizers — perfect for experiencing expensive venues at a lower cost. The GoFood app (Indonesia's equivalent to Uber Eats) delivers from almost any restaurant and Warung — convenient for lazy beach days.
