Trogir★★

The entire old town of Trogir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site — and rightly so. The medieval town is located on a small island, connected by bridges to the mainland and the island of Čiovo. Just 30 minutes from Split Airport, Trogir is a quieter and cheaper alternative to Split itself.

★★★ Cathedral of St. Lawrence (Sv. Lovro)

The Romanesque Portal by Master Radovan (1240) is the most important work of Romanesque sculpture in all of Croatia. The bell tower (47m) offers the best view over the city. The interior: Chapel of St. John (Renaissance), impressive wooden choir stalls.

Church + bell tower: 5€. April–Oct: 8 AM–8 PM.

★★ Kamerlengo Fortress

Venetian fortress at the western end of the island with views over the canal and the islands. In summer, open-air cinema and concerts on the walls.

4€. April–Oct: 9 AM–9 PM.
