Daan Viljoen Game Park★★
Only 20 minutes west of Windhoek lies this small but beautiful game park in the Khomas Highland Mountains. Daan Viljoen is perfect for a half-day trip on the arrival or departure day — and an ideal introduction to Namibian wildlife.
The park is home to over 200 animal species, including:
- Oryx (Gemsbok) — Namibia's national animal with impressive straight horns
- Kudus — the elegant antelopes with spiral horns
- Mountain Zebras — the rare Hartmann variant, endemic to Namibia
- Giraffes, Springboks, Warthogs
- Over 200 bird species — excellent for birders
There are several hiking trails (3–9 km), a small reservoir for swimming, and a campsite as well as chalets. The park is managed by NWR (Namibia Wildlife Resorts).
