Deep Sea Fishing in Oman★★

Oman is a premier destination for deep sea fishing — the nutrient-rich waters of the Arabian Sea are home to some of the world's most powerful fighting fish. Oman's fishing tradition dates back millennia, and today, sport fishermen from around the world gather here.

Coastal Fishing

For those who don't want to book a boat tour, you can fish from the shore and rocks — kingfish, barracuda, and various reef fish bite on jigs and lures. Especially good spots: Fins Beach, Yiti Beach, the rocks at Bandar Khairan, and the quay wall in Sur. No license needed for recreational fishing! Fishing gear is available in any major supermarket (Lulu, Carrefour) for a few rials.

💡 Tipp

The absolute insider tip: Ask the fishermen at the port in Sur if you can go out to sea with them for a morning. Many take tourists along for 5–10 OMR — you experience real Omani fishing life, learn traditional fishing techniques, and bring your own catch back. A restaurant in Sur will grill the fish for you for 1 OMR.
