In Mallorca, there are honorary consulates of the German-speaking countries. The embassies are located in Madrid but are also reachable from Mallorca in emergencies.

For passport loss, the consulate is the first point of contact — a replacement travel document can be issued on-site (for a fee). In serious emergencies (arrest, accident, death), the embassy in Madrid is involved.
