Kazuri Beads Factory★
Kazuri means "small and beautiful" in Swahili — and that's exactly what the hand-painted ceramic beads made here since 1977 are. What started as a project for two single mothers now employs over 340 women from the surrounding communities.
During a free factory tour (about 30 minutes), you can see the entire production process: shaping clay, firing, hand-painting, and processing into jewelry. Each piece is unique. In the store, you can buy necklaces, bracelets, and earrings — fair prices, and the money goes directly to the women.
Kazuri is located in the Karen district and can be perfectly combined with the Karen Blixen Museum and the Giraffe Centre.
