Fløibanen & Fløyen★★★
The Fløibanen is Bergen's funicular and the city's most popular attraction: In just 6 minutes, it takes visitors from the city center (Vetrlidsallmenningen) to Fløyen (320 m), one of Bergen's seven mountains. The panoramic view over the city, the Vågen harbor, the islands, and the surrounding mountains is spectacular.
At the top, there is a restaurant, a playground, a climbing park, and a network of hiking trails through the forest. The hike to the neighboring mountain Ulriken (643 m) takes 3–4 hours and offers even better views. Alternatively, you can take the Ulriksbanen (cable car) to Ulriken and do the hike one way.
💡 Tipp
Take the Fløibanen up and walk back down (about 45 minutes, well-marked)—this saves the return ticket and the path through the forest is beautiful. Or: Take the Fløibanen up, hike to Ulriken (3–4 hours), and take the Ulriksbanen down.
