Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is the oldest of the Canary Islands — spat out of the Atlantic over 20 million years ago — and the most African: only 97 km separate it from the coast of Morocco. With over 150 km of sandy beaches, Fuerteventura has more coastline than all the other Canary Islands combined. Here, the wind reigns: it shapes the dunes, drives the surfers, and keeps mass tourism in check. Anyone who dismisses Fuerteventura as a barren desert island has never truly gotten to know it. Behind the endless beaches lies an island with a surprising history, proud identity, and a landscape whose stark beauty is addictive.
