Daymaniyat Islands★★★
Oman's Underwater Paradise
The Daymaniyat Islands (جزر الديمانيات) are a nature reserve consisting of nine uninhabited islands about 18 km off the coast of Muscat — and Oman's best diving and snorkeling spot.
The clear, warm water (visibility 15–30 meters) is home to:
- Coral Reefs: Hard and soft corals in all colors, some just below the surface
- Sea Turtles: Green and hawksbill turtles nest on the islands (June–October). You regularly encounter them while snorkeling
- Tropical Fish: Clownfish, parrotfish, barracudas, rays, occasionally whale sharks (October–February)
- Dolphins: On the boat trip to the islands, you are often accompanied by spinner dolphins
The islands are only accessible by boat tour (departures usually from Al Mouj Marina or Seeb). Diving and snorkeling trips last half or a full day.
Achtung
The islands are a protected nature reserve — take nothing, leave nothing, do not touch the corals! During the turtle nesting season (June–September), some islands are completely closed. Boats may only dock at designated anchor points.
