The Holmenkollen Ski Jump is one of Oslo's landmarks and a pilgrimage site for winter sports fans. The completely rebuilt jump from 2011, made of steel and mesh, towers on the Holmenkollen hill, 371 meters above sea level, with a breathtaking view over Oslo and the fjord.
You can ascend to the top of the jump by elevator and stairs — the view down over the jump table is not for the faint-hearted, but the panoramic view compensates. At the foot of the jump is the Ski Museum (Skimuseet), one of the oldest of its kind, with 4,000 years of skiing history. The Holmenkollen Ski Festival in March is one of Norway's largest sporting events.
