Oslo Opera House★★★
The Opera House (Operahuset, 2008) is Oslo's architectural masterpiece and a symbol of urban renewal. Designed by the firm Snøhetta, the building rises like an iceberg from the Oslofjord: A huge, walkable roof made of white Carrara marble and granite, rising from the water to the top.
The special feature: You can climb the roof for free at any time — and you should. The panoramic view over the Oslofjord, Bjørvika, and the city skyline is spectacular, especially at sunset. Inside, the main auditorium impresses with its horseshoe shape and world-class acoustics. The Den Norske Opera & Ballett performs here from September to June.
💡 Tipp
The roof is the best free viewpoint in Oslo. In summer, free open-air concerts take place on the forecourt. An opera visit is surprisingly affordable — tickets from 200 NOK (€18) for the back rows.
